My favourite things….

My favourite things....

Hello again.
Well, it’s been a few days. I have been super busy with a “new” craft I’ve gotten my hands into… sewing. I love it and I hope I can make nice things. So far I have only tried square things (cushions) but I hope to go for something more intricate. I will have to get a lot better!!

As I said before, there’s not enough time for all then crafts one wants to get done.

Anyway, I have a card today made with a stamp I love, from My favourite things. I find these stamps really versatile, I’ll be making more cards with other sets I have in a few days.
I also think the colours of these papers from Fancy pants are amazing and have now been upgraded to the category of my new favourite pad.
I went for a simple one, although it was very hard to cut the girl’s legs without breaking them. Looking at it now I probably should’ve used only one sentiment, but it’s a bit late now for that.
Hope you like it.

Me encanta y espero poder hacer cosas lindas.

Thinking outside the box

Thinking outside the box

Hello!
I had made this card a few days ago but I had not taken a photo of it, which meant not being able to post it, as I was away.
Anyway, I have been playing with the distress inks and the blending tool, so I’m working on the technique. Using some embossing folders I worked on a piece of background and that was the starting point.
This kitty in a box stamp is lovely and extremely versatile.I stamped it onto Kraft card and coloured with Prismacolour pencils. The brown/earthy theme started to take shape. I cut out the shape of the stamp and stuck it to the card with foam pads to add dimension. Some bakers twine, white pen and a little heart accent….and voilá, the card was finished.
Hope you like it, I just received some new bits of stash so I’ll be preparing my next post with the new goodies. 🙂
Thanks for looking.

¡Hola!
Gracias por visitar y hasta la próxima.

Furry Kisses

Furry Kisses

Hello!
I’m sure it happens to everybody, weekends should be to relax and recharge, however, housework always gets in the way of having fun.

I try to make more cards during the weekend because I know I haven’t got a lot of time the rest of the week, but I only managed one.
Anyway, I really like how this card turned out, albeit the bits of embossing powder that appeared in places I didn’t want, but practice makes perfect so I will continue my attempts to get a nice emboss effect.
I started trying out the distress inks with my new Ink Blending Tool, with the idea to create a window card. That was the only thing I had in mind and it developed from there.
As I worked on it I thought the kittens from the Simon Says Stamp “Furry Kisses” set would work well.
Once I worked on the background, I used white embossing powder for the mini frame around the window using the strip of dots from the set, leaving a gap for the words. I think here is where I made the mistake because I should’ve dried the distress ink a bit more before applying the powder.
I’ve stamped the kittens inside the card and used my Prismacolour pencils to softly colour them. I finished with some glitter and ribbon.
Hope you like it, and thanks for visiting.

¡Hola!

Boys rock

Boys rock

Hello!….TGIF

I must admit I like making cards for boys (and men). Perhaps it is because I’ve never been a girly girl, flower lover, full of embellishment type… Men are simple, easy to please on the card front.
I have made cards for my little boy and his friends since I can remember, he has been to plenty birthday parties!, but I feel as he gets older he won’t appreciate the cute kind of cards. So I know started looking at ways to create just that, a card for older boys, not teenagers yet.

Thanks for visiting

¡Hola!

Birthday with style

Birthday with style

I bought this Stamping bella stamp a while ago but haven’t had the chance to use it yet. It was part of a large-ish order I had placed so there were a few to play with 🙂
I love these stamps because they are a nice size and they lend themselves also to be cropped with the nestabilities quite nicely.
I love the colours, I’ve used a paper from my new Teresa Collins pad and I had to really force myself to use this paper because I love it so much I want to keep it. This often happens to me, that I don’t want to use the nice papers I buy, I should probably buy two pads, one to keep one to use.
I’ve used a bit of paper piecing which I don’t normally do but thought it worked well with the cropped image and how it falls outside the circle.
Thanks for looking.

A bit of history

I thought the best way to do this would be to give a brief account of how I got into crafting, in particular card making….
One could argue that doing something crafty was always on the cards (no pun intended) as I studied graphic design in the University of Buenos Aires (a long time ago).
However, at the time the idea of graphic design was more editorial than anything else, in fact I didn’t know that people sent cards for so many things! It is not the custom in Argentina, at least not then, at least not among my circle.
Fast forward to 2006-2007 when my sister-in-law (partner in crime) invited me to join her at a craft show. I remember thinking to myself, a bit sceptical also, how much could one spend on paper… Well… A lot is the answer.
Since then I have been bitten by the craft bug and haven’t turned back.
Now blogging is a different thing, I am not used to showing the world what I do, my card making is usually determined by the events around me, birthdays, Christmas, etc, although I have ventured in some card selling in the past. I’d like to think I can make more cards and share them with more and more people so this will be the platform, and the encouragement to make another one… and another one; however, with a full-time, and very demanding job, sometimes this may not be possible.
Anyway, I’ll try my best. Meanwhile, a small gallery of cards I’ve made in the past.

Inspired by Clean & Simple cards

Inspired by Clean and Simple cards

I thought this would be s good starting point.
i like simple cards and always look into trying new things, well, here I’m trying two!
First, the blog. This is a new thing for me. I don’t know where it’ll take me but here we are.
Then the card, I made this today, “just because”. No real event or important date coming, just wanted to tell him.

I don’t have a fancy camera so the photos may not be great. I’ll try my best to show the details.

For this card I used:
Kraft card.
Stampin’ Up card in Chocolate chip.
Studio Calico Mister Huey White spray mist.
Studio Calico Mister Huey Cameo spray mist.
Tattered angels shimmer mist, Pearl.
Studio calico mask Mister Huey’s Mask – Bubbles
Hobby House ribbon.
Stampin’ up hearts punch.
Stampin’ up white embossing powder
